This is not so much a technology as an approach not may be more relevant in some areas than others.

Google Maps is very popular for route maps, and showing points of interest. Google Earth is similar but with more imagery and control. Both link to Street View. My Maps enables you to customise a map.

This is the main combination we are exploring in 2016 for general use. It comes from the OSGEO (Open Source) movement and includes GeoServer for sharing geospatial data, PostGIS for storing it, and the desktop QGIS system.
